Quick answer

What is the cheapest way to book a Europe trip?

Price the route before booking individual parts, compare the total cost of nearby dates, and book the least flexible items only after the itinerary works as a whole.

Start with the route rather than a flight sale. Compare two or three date windows, include the cost of reaching and leaving each airport, and check whether a rail-first route removes an expensive flight or hotel night.

Once the route is stable, book the items with the biggest price risk first: usually long-distance transport and limited lodging. Keep flexible reservations where the saving is small. The cheapest headline fare is not necessarily the cheapest complete trip.
